I first started using StoryMason when my career advisor in my MBA program invited me to a practice session to improve my interview technique in the US. Initially, I wasn't sure what the output would be, as I had worked for a number of years and I had thus been to numerous interviews—and felt I had a good grasp on the interviewing process. Preparation for an interview requires a lot of finesse. A good candidate will always ask questions before an interview is set up and prepare himself for what to expect. I wish it was that simple. As soon as one enters the interview room, there is a landslide shift in the dynamics – we get nervous, start fumbling with our words, try desperately to stay focused, struggle to maintain eye contact, etc. It happened with me, and that is where my practice with StoryMason kicked in. The scenario-based questions, association of a compelling personal story with an interview question, preparedness in case of unforeseen circumstances and closure are key ingredients towards prepping for an interaction as important as an interview. I think the most useful part was how to begin the conversation and how to conclude it. The cards gave me a clear idea of what could be good conclusion notes. Playing the game

This professional role-play game consists of players introducing themselves through opening statements, answering common interview questions with personal stories, handling unexpected disruptions, and closing with purpose.

For group sessions, the game works well with tables of 2-5 people and a minimum playing time of 45 minutes.
